Mason has Two Good Runs in Deep South Late Model Racing

Mason headed South for a big weekend of racing with his Bill Elliott Racing Team. The plan was to just get good seat time and learn at two tracks that he had never ran laps on before. Friday, at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida, he hit the track running in his Jeff Foxworthy Full Force Energy Shot Late Model. At the end of practice, he was at the top of the speed charts running fast and very consistent lap times. He qualified 8th (out of 18 cars) and was inverted to 3rd to start the race. After running second for the first 31 laps, he made his move and took the lead on lap 32. He led all the way to lap 80 and after a late race restart ended up finishing 8th in his first visit to the track. He had a great run and was very happy with the car and learned a lot during the race. "We did not need to see that last caution," said Mason. "I was trying to lead and save my tires. It is so hard to be leading and being told on the radio to slow down. It goes against everything I have ever done in my racing career, but we will learn from tonight. Overall, we had a great night in our Foxworthy Full Force Energy Shot Late Model. We were able to run up front all night and lead a ton of laps."

After the successful run in Pensacola, the Bill Elliott Racing team loaded up and headed to Montgomery Motor Speedway for Round 1 of The Show Me The Money Series on Saturday. In practice, Mason was again toward the top of the speed charts. In qualifying, he ran a great lap and ended up 4th overall out of 21 cars. He started the 100 lap feature 3rd and ran in the top 5 for the first 65 laps. Unfortunately, during the caution at lap 65 he had to pit to replace his radio which had quit working somewhere around lap 28. After going to the rear, he drove back to a solid 7th place finish, capping off a good weekend for Mason. "Ricky had the car really good at both tracks. I just wanna thank Bill Elliott and the whole crew for a great weekend. We ran real strong at both tracks, and in my opinion, did real good with a rookie driver. Also, thanks to Jeff Foxworthy's Full Force Energy Shot for making all this happen for us. They had some people at the track and I am glad that we could run good for them."

Mason's next race will be Saturday April 7 at Gresham's Motorsports Park in Jefferson, Georgia for the running of the Beau Slocumb Memorial 208. This will be one the biggest events of the year for Pro Late Models paying $10,000 to win. If you are in the area or a fan of Mason's come on out and see a great race.

Mason Caps Off Pair of Successful Weekends With Championship

After announcing his huge Late Model deal with Bill Elliott Racing and Jeff Foxworthy's Full Force Energy Shot, Mason was excited about his Late Model debut with his new team. On Thursday March 1, Mason was able to practice the car for the first time at South Alabama Speedway in preparation for The Rattler. The next day, timed practices started for all the Late Model teams preparing for The Rattler. Including all three rounds of practice, Mason was never lower than 4th on the speed charts out of the 29 Pro Late Models entered in the race. After a disappointing qualifying run of 14th, Mason was ready for the race. At the drop of the green flag, he was headed to the front. After 100 laps of hard racing, Mason drove his Ford to a 4th place finish. After the race, Mason said, "Man, this thing was good for all 100 laps. It finished the race, just as strong as it started. Ricky (Turner, Crew Chief) really had the right setup on it tonight. I could drive it anywhere on the track that I needed it to go. I really can not thank Bill Elliott Racing enough for giving me this opportunity and Jeff Foxworthy's Full Force Energy Shot for making a deal this big come together."

Saturday, at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Mason rolled in to run the final race of the Winter Flurry Series. Having won 4 out of the 5 races he had run in the series, he was hoping for a victory to keep his hot streak intact. After a hard fought battle in the feature, Mason was able to win the race and the Pro Division Championship. This ended a very successful Series for Mason, in 6 races he had 5 wins and one 3rd place finish. Special thanks goes to Doug Stevens and Advanced Technology Motorsports for helping Mason and having his car ready to run upfront at every race.

MASON MASSEY TO RACE FOR BILL ELLIOTT RACING WITH JEFF FOXWORTHY’S FULL FORCE ENERGY SHOT AS PRIMARY SPONSOR

DOUGLASVILLE, GA (February 24, 2012) – Mason Massey Racing announced today that driver Mason Massey will pilot the No. 9 Pro Late Model for Bill Elliott Racing during the 2012 season. Praelia Pharmaceuticals has come on board to sponsor Massey in the No. 9 machine to promote their new product Jeff Foxworthy's Full Force Energy Shot which will be on store shelves in March.

"Mason is a good kid,” said Bill Elliott, team owner and former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion. “I've watched him race in Bandoleros and Legends and now in Late Models. He does a good job and we are looking forward to working with him at Bill Elliott Racing and helping him to progress on to the next level of his career."

Massey will compete in a 20-race schedule under the direction of Crew Chief Ricky Turner which will take him to tracks including South Alabama Speedway (AL), Five Flags Speedway (FL), Gresham Motorsports Park (GA), Montgomery Motor Speedway (AL), and Mobile Speedway (AL).

"It should be fun working with young talent in Late Models,” said Turner. “It is going to be a challenge for both Bill Elliott Racing and Mason driving for a new team, but we are looking forward to figuring out what Mason likes as a driver and building his confidence throughout the season."

Massey will take over the seat vacated by Elliott’s son Chase who has been signed to a multi-year contract with Hendrick Motorsports.

"I am really excited and honored to be racing for Bill (Elliott Racing),” said Massey. “It is not often that you get to race for a former NASCAR Champion with such a huge part of history in the sport. He is a great guy and I really appreciate him thinking of me when Chase (Elliott) signed with Hendrick Motorsports. Their Late Model program is by far one of the strongest in the country. It is definitely going to be a huge challenge moving up from the Legend cars, but a challenge that I have prayed for."

Massey has accumulated numerous accomplishments including multiple championships throughout his racing career and he is ready to take the next step and continue honing his skills behind the wheel.

"Working with a Crew Chief like Ricky (Turner) is something all drivers would love to do,” said the young racer. “He is so knowledgeable on these late models and is a good guy. He reminds me so much of my current Legend Car Crew Chief, Doug Stevens, because he is very quiet and always focused on getting the cars to run faster. Ricky and Doug are both considered to be the very best at what they do and I can not wait until we get started with this Late Model program."

The team is very proud to announce the partnership with Praelia Pharmaceuticals and the brand new Jeff Foxworthy's Full Force Energy Shot. Massey will participate in appearances at various food and drug chains that will carry the product once it has been released, as well as handing out samples of the Shot and other Praelia Pharmaceuticals products at the race track.

"Praelia Pharmaceuticals is excited to be starting a new venture with Mason,” said Steven Lutz, the company’s Chief Executive. “Together our winning combination will successfully launch Jeff Foxworthy's Full Force Energy Shot. The Foxworthy Family and the Massey family exemplify good people and we are proud to have them as a part of our team. We look forward to building a lasting relationship that will continue long into the future."

Massey will get behind the wheel of the No. 9 machine for the first time on Saturday, March 3rd, 2012, at South Alabama Speedway for the Pro Late Model Rattler 125 with Jeff Foxworthy’s Full Force Energy Shot on the car.

And thanks to my sponsors for making this happen: Advance Auto Parts, Summit Tires, Ideal Restorations, Motivated Eyewear, G Force Racing Gear and Racerboost.com." Mason Gears Up for First Pro Race

After a very successful 2011 season, that included over 20 feature wins, Mason is set to make his Pro debut Friday night at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Race #1 of the Winter Flurry Series. He will have his Doug Stevens prepared car ready to race after a disappointing finish at the Legend Nationals in Las Vegas last weekend, that included Mason flipping on lap 2 of the feature. Mason had a very fast racecar in Vegas all week leading up to the race. In qualifying, he ended up 2nd, just .02 off the pole, while qualifying under the existing track record. In the final rounds of practice, he was consistently at the top of the speed charts, while posting the fastest lap of the day in the final practice of all the Legend cars, including all divisions. Unfortunately, Mason could not show his speed in the feature, as he was unable to avoid 2 cars in front of him wrecking on lap 2 of the feature. This wreck ended his night and left the car in bad condition. He will be at Atlanta Friday night ready to race. Come out to Atlanta Motor Speedway to see some good racing!!

Mason Wins "The Final Showdown" at Lanier

Saturday night at Lanier National Speedway ended a near 30 year run of weekly racing with an event billed as "The Final Showdown." After starting 3rd in his heat race, Mason quickly took the lead and never looked back. In the feature, Mason jumped out to an early lead and lead flag to flag, to pick up another win in his successful 2011 season. After the race, in victory lane, Mason said, "Man, Doug (Stevens) really gave me a great car tonight. This is the best we have been all year here at Lanier. Also, I want to dedicate this win to my buddy Rick Hensley, who died yesterday of cancer. He was a great man and a good friend, and will really be missed. Rest in peace, buddy."

Mason Brings Home the Money

The Legends Invitational at Atlanta Motor Speedway was run Friday Afternoon before the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race. It was an invitation only race for drivers who had won a selected qualifying race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Lanier National Speedway, or Watermelon Capital Speedway during the 2011 racing season. Mason showed up ready to race, after winning 12 of the qualifying races, to try his luck and skill against Georgia's best drivers in the long 40 lap event. After starting 2nd, Mason settled into 3rd for the first half of the race, pulling away from the field with Taylor Hull and Sean Rayhall leading the way. On lap 25, Mason was able to pass for the lead and led the race as Hull and Doug Stevens were fighting for 2nd. A pair of late race cautions, set up a shootout with Mason leading and Stevens in 2nd place. Mason was able to hold off Stevens and won the biggest race of his career. It was an exciting day for Mason to win such a big race on NASCAR weekend in Atlanta. After the race, Mason said,"we had an awesome car. Doug had it set up perfect and I could drive it anywhere it needed to go." Asked about the late race cautions with Stevens in his mirror, he said,"my car was definitely better on the short runs, so I feel like the cautions actually helped me, but it was nerve racking to know that he was behind me and I had to have perfect restarts to stay up front. Doug is a great guy and a good friend and it was just awesome to race hard with him. He is one of my heroes on and off the track." For the win, Mason pocketed $1,000 and a gift certificate to the Legends of Georgia shop.

It was a blast racing that hard with William(Plemons) and Scott (Mosley). It is nice to win and I appreciate them racing me clean. Also, thanks to Doug Stevens for the good car. We tried a new setup that we had never ran here before and we were fast off the trailer. As usual, Doug had us dialed in."
